Ducsu Vice President Nurul Haque Nur has been sued under the Digital Security Act.

Arnab Hore, publicity affairs secretary of Dhaka University’s Jagannath Hall unit of Chhatra League lodged the lawsuit against Nur with Dhanmondi Police Station on December 26.

In the first information report, the plaintiff claimed that the Ducsu VP dished out rumours during his facebook live on December 23 that created a hostile situation on the university campus and across the country as well.

By spreading rumours, Ducsu VP Nur has committed a defamatory offence under the Digital Security Act, he stated in the case statement.

Earlier on December 26, DM Sabbir Hossain, former vice president of Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall unit Chhatra League, filed an attempt to murder case against Nur and 28 other activists of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad.

The development comes four days after Nur and his supporters came under attack from a faction of Muktijuddho Moncho, mostly comprised of Chhatra League men, at his office at Ducsu building of Dhaka University.

Nur, along with at least 26 of his supporters, was injured in the December 22 attack.
