Drug trader jailed in Bogra

A mobile court yesterday sentenced a drug trader to six months imprisonment in Dhunat upazila of the district.

The convict is Ranju Mia, 35, son of Nur Mohammad Ali of Kashiahata village in the upazila.

Law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, raided Mathurapur Bazar in the upazila and detained Ranju while he was selling hemp around 10:00pm on Wednesday.

Police produced him before the court of Executive Magistrate Hafizur Rahman.

Yesterday morning. The court sentenced him to six months imprisonment, Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman of Dhunat Police Station said.

After the verdict, Ranju was sent to Bogra jail, the OC added.

Away in Chapainawabganj, Rab personnel arrested two drug peddlers with cannabis at Pialimari village in Shibganj upazila on Wednesday evening, reports our correspondent.

The arrestees are Milon Uddin, 20, son of Ekramul Haque, and Sentu Sheikh, son of Tajim Uddin. They hail from Parchouka village in the upazila.
