Dowry-greedy husband murders wife

A woman was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Deyapara village in Jessore's Abhoynagar upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was Keya Ghosh, 25, daughter of Anil Ghosh of Amdabad village in Sadar upazila.

Victim's father Anil said Liton Ghosh, 35, son of Milon Ghosh of Deyapara, used to torture Keya for dowry since their marriage seven years ago.

On Saturday night, the couple locked in an altercation over the issue. At one stage, Liton strangled Keya to death and fled the scene.

The body was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Sub-Inspector Sheik Rabiul Alam of Abhoynagar Police Station.
