Law Minister Anisul Huq today said the government will introduce digitalised land registration system very soon in order to provide the people with better service.

The scope for giving better service the responsibility and duties of registration officials has increased to a larger scale after the department of registration was upgraded to a directorate, he said.

The law minister made the remarks while addressing as chief guest to the annual general meeting of Bangladesh Registration Service Association (BRSA) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.

“If we do not accept the digital system in the [land] registration, people will throw us in dungeon,” he said.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given her consent in 2011 to upgrade the registration department to the directorate, but it was delayed for two years due to bureaucratic tangles.

The registration department has been upgraded to the directorate on January 2 this year, the law minister said.
