Recovery operation suspends Dhaka-Sylhet-Chattogram train route

Train service between Dhaka-Sylhet-Chattogram route has been suspended as authorities are conducting a recovery activity of derailed carriages of an intercity train which crashed on Sunday.

Trains going to different destinations are halted since 5:00am at in nearby stations for indefinite time due to the suspension, our Mouldvibazar correspondent reports quoting Station Master Md Akhteruddin.

Upaban Express, a Dhaka-bound intercity train from Sylhet, derailed on a bridge in Kulaura on June 23. One of the carriages of the train fell into a canal while two others fell close to the canal’s banks.

Five passengers were killed and hundreds injured in the accident.
