Ctg Jubo League man killed by rivals

A Jubo league man was stabbed to death by a rival group in the ruling Awami League’s youth wing in Sandwip upazila of Chittagong this evening over establishing supremacy in the area.

The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, 42, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

Locals said a group of some 15 men armed with sticks and sharp weapons swooped on Monir and his two brothers at Sholoshohor bazaar around 7:00pm.

The attackers beat and stabbed the trio indiscriminately, leaving them critically injured.

Locals rushed them to a nearly clinic where Monir succumbed to his injuries around 8:00pm, said Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sandwip Police Station.

Local sources said for the last two to three days two groups of Jubo league men -- one led by Hafez Rahman and the other by Samir -- both followers of upazila Jubo league leader Mizan Chariman were having conflict over buying hilsa fish from the fishermen.
