Cricketer Shahadat gets bail

The High Court today granted bail to cricketer Shahadat Hossain in connection with a case filed for torturing his 11-year-old domestic help.

The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Amir Hossain granted the bail till March 31 following a petition filed by Shahadat.

A Dhaka court on October 5 sent the suspended national cricketer to jail after he surrendered before it seeking bail in the case. Shahadat’s surrender came two days after police arrested his wife Jesmine Jahan Nrittya at one of her relatives' house at Malibagh in Dhaka in connection with the same case.

Meanwhile, Jesmine secured bail on December 1.
