Couple kill selves

A couple allegedly committed suicide in Ghatail upazila early yesterday.

The deceased were Tara Kazi, 27, of Boga Modhyapara village in Ghatail, and his second wife Khadija Khatun, 24, of Goalpara village in Gaibandha's Gobindaganj upazila.

Sangrampur Union Parishad Chairman Abdur Rahim Miah said Tara, a readymade garment worker in Dhaka, married Khadija three months ago.

Tara's first wife Sumaiya Begum filed a case with a court against him in this regard.

After filing of the case, Tara along with his second wife Khadija came to the village home from Dhaka on Saturday. His family members asked Tara to divorce Khadija.

Later, the couple was found hanging from a jackfruit tree yesterday.
