At least 207 Bangladeshis have returned home from India through Bhomra Land Port of Satkhira in the last 48 hours, according to immigration police.

Health officials have tested all of them and advised for 14-day home quarantine, said Bishwajit Sarkar, a sub-inspector and also in-charge of Bhomra immigration police.

"We have marked them with stamps bearing the date until which they will have to stay under home quarantine," Bishwajit Sarkar said.

The Bangladeshis, who got stranded in India, were allowed to enter as their visa will expire soon, the police officer said.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown across the country from March 24.

On the other hand, Bangladesh declared a 10-day shutdown from March 26 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Bangladesh has so far confirmed 48 Covid-19 cases and five deaths.
