Children raise fund for Rohingya kids

Touched by the plight of Rohingya refugee kids, the students of Amir Salfu Government Primary School in Kulaura upazila under the district have come forward to lessen their sufferings with whatever little means they have.

Visiting the school yesterday, this correspondent saw the kids raising fund by saving from their tiffin money.

“We were touched to see in the TV that Rohingya kids are crying for food. We decided to help them. On the first day, we have collected cash Tk 471 and some dresses,” said Arif Ahmed, Cub Scout captain of the school.

“After completing our collection, we will send it for the children sheltered in Cox's Bazar area,” he said.

Under the banner of 'Mohanubhabatar Deyal' (wall of generosity), school students started taking part in charity works five months ago.

“Our parents and teachers have also started contributing,” said Pria Akther of Class IV.

Her mother Nurun Nesa said, “I feel proud to see my kids willing to help distressed Rohingya kids.”

“It is really enlightening to see kids' humanitarian efforts. Such initiatives will help to bring positive change in the society,” said Abu Sayed Md Shafiqur Rahman Siddique, headmaster of Amir Salfu Government Primary School.
