Chatmohar UZ chairman lands in jail

A court on Sunday sent the suspended chairman of Chatmohar Upazila Parishad to jail, rejecting his bail prayer in an explosion case.

The accused chairman, Hasadul Islam Hira, is secretary of Pabna district unit of BNP. 

Earlier on the day, Hira was produced before the Judicial Magistrate's Court-1, seeking bail in the case, said Subrato Kumar, officer-in-charge of Chatmohar Police Station

He is one of the prime accused in a case filed with the PS on February 8 this year on charge of explosion during hartal sponsored by BNP-Jamaat.

On April 15, the Ministry of Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) suspended the chairman as he is a charge sheeted accused in the criminal case.
