Charges pressed against SC lawyer Shakila, 27 others

Shakila Farjana
Law enforcers today pressed charges against 28 people including Supreme Court lawyer Shakila Farjana, arrested for funding militants, in a case filed under anti-terrorism act.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) filed the charge sheet to Chittagong Senior Judicial Magistrate Court, Lt Col Miftah Uddin Ahmad, commanding officer of Rab-7, told our Chittagong correspondent.

The Supreme Court lawyer was arrested from capital Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area in February along with two other lawyers for funding a Chittagong-based militant outfit. She is also an accused in another case over militancy funding.

On February 19 last year, Rab raided “Al Madrasatul Abu Baka”, a training centre for the militants of the outfit. Two days later, a training camp was discovered in Banshkhali upazila in Chittagong and arms and ammunition were recovered from there.
