Chandpur woman AL leader murder: Main suspect arrested

Police today arrested the prime suspect of the murder case of a Chandpur woman leader of ruling Awami League.

Detained Najma Akhtar Nayan, 42, was on the run since the murder of Kohinur Begum, 45, reports our Chandpur correspondent.

Plainclothes traced down Nayan and detained her from Chandpur Sadar upazila, said Shamsunnahar, district superintendent of police.

Kohinur was killed on Saturday night. She was a member of the district Mohila Awami League. Her husband said Nayan took her away hours before Kohinur’s death.

A murder suit filed in this regard by Kohinur’s husband Abdul Mannan mentioned Nayan as the prime accused.
