CC cameras to stop unfair means in exams

The ongoing Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent Dakhil and SSC (vocational) examinations at all 12 centres in Baufal upazila under the district see a uniquely clean atmosphere, thanks to the setting of closed circuit (CC) cameras by the local administration.

The examinations began across the country on Thursday and Baufal upazila administration set up CC cameras at all the 170 rooms of 12 centres where a total of 6,263 examinees are taking part.

Earlier in August last year, Mohammad Abdullah Al Mahmud Al Zaman, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Baufal, set up CC camera as a test case at Baufal Model High School and it showed a dramatic results to bring discipline in the school examinations.

“Now all the rooms of the SSC examination centres are under CC camera coverage and we can easily monitor examinees, invigilators, officials, and possible outsiders at all the rooms of examination centres. The arrangement is helpful to take action in case of any mismanagement,” he said.

“If this system is introduced across the country, environment of the public examination would see a great change for the better,” the UNO added.

Abu Eusuf, headmaster of Baufal Model High School, said, “Now the examinations here are being held in a noiseless environment free from any unfair means as all concerned are very careful due to monitoring through CC camera.”

“Baufal upazila administration has done a great job by arranging public examinations in a peaceful and fair environment with monitoring through CC cameras,” said Dr Masumur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Patuakhali.

“We will try our best to introduce CC camera at all examination centres in the district in future,” he added.
