Youth’s body found on Satkhira border

Two days after going missing, a youth was found dead in Debahata upazila of Satkhira along the border of neighbouring India.

The deceased was identified as Rubel Hossain, 22, a cattle trader, reports our Satkhira correspondent quoting family and police sources.

Locals at Komorpur area found the body floating on the Ichhamoti river and informed the local authorities. Police later retrieved the body and sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Azizur Haque, officer-in-charge of Debahata Police Station, confirmed identity of the victim but could not say of the reason of death. “There were injury marks on his body.”

Moslem Sardar, father of the deceased, said his son had gone to India on Friday to fetch cattles. “He did not return since”.

Lt Col Khalid Bin Yusuf, commanding officer of Nildumur unit Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), acknowledged the facts and said the cause of death was under investigation.
