Businessman sued for ‘raping’ woman for 4yrs

A woman has filed a case against a local businessman for “raping” her for four years reportedly after silencing her with various threats in Ghior upazila of Manikganj.

The victim filed the case against Md Ali Uzzal, 40, who owns several business establishments including a rice mill, in connection with the incident last night, our Manikganj correspondent reports quoting police.

The accused used to inflict brutal torture on the victim if she did not yield to his evil desire and also coerced her to establish physical contact with other people, she said in the case statement.

Uzzal also filmed the scenes of their physical contact, which he later used to hush her up. She remained silent because of the stigma associated with the incident, the victim said in the case statement.

Meanwhile, Uzzal also allegedly took Tk 8.25 lakh from the woman threatening to circulate the video footage. The victim managed the money on loan from different microcredit organisations operating in the locality, according to the statement.

The accused also threatened her of nonpayment of the money if she does not bring her daughter with her and broke her silence over the issue.

Yesterday, the accused took the victim and her daughter inside a four-storey building at noon and “raped” the victim first and later tried to do the same with her child.

At one stage, locals, suspecting something wrong, went there and chased the man. But he managed to flee the scene leaving his smartphone.

Manikganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rakibuzzaman said that a case was filed against Md Ali Uzzal and Manira Begum, the owner of the building, in connection with the incident.

Sub-Inspector (investigation) Ashraful said the victim was sent to a hospital for medical test. A drive is underway to arrest the accused, he said adding, they were scanning the cellphone for evidence.

In the meantime, the victim’s medical test was conducted, said Dr Lutfar Rahman, residential medical officer of Manikganj General Hospital.
