Bullet-hit former BCL leader lands in hospital

A former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in the district, who sustained bullet wounds yesterday, was sent to a hospital in Dhaka in a critical state.

Son of former secretary of district Jubo League, the victim is Ashfaq Al Rafi Shawon, 28, former vice president of the district BCL.

Abdul Quddus said his son Shawon was shot in his abdomen in Mymensingh Zila Parishad area around 2:00am.

He was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and then shifted to a hospital in Dhaka as his condition deteriorated, said Mahmudul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

Police are yet to find any clues behind the incident, the OC said, adding that they are investigating the matter.

Rafi was hanging out with some of his friends in the area when the incident took place, said district BCL president Rakibul Islam Rakib.
