BTRC to block 35 news portals

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) today directed all the International Internet Gateway (IIG) services to block 35 domains of news websites.

“The commission has directed the authorities concerned to block some news websites following a government’s directive,” BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood told The Daily Star.

He however did not mention the reasons behind the decision while talking to this correspondent over mobile phone tonight.
