‘BSF’ kills Bangladeshi on Kurigram border

Indian Border Security Force allegedly gunned down a Bangladeshi national along Raumari border in Kurigram early today.

Deceased Baharul Islam, 35, was son of Boktar Hossain of Chhadkoraibari village in the upazila, reports our Kurigram correspondent.

BSF troops of Gutalu camp in Assam state of India shot at Baharul at the no man’s land, said Subedar Abdul Aziz, company commander of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion-35 at Dantbhanga.

Injured Baharul managed to return to Bangladesh territory where he died later, the BGB official said.

He was involved with smuggling, Subedar Abdul Aziz added.

In response to a protest letter sent by BGB, the Indian border guard decided to hold a flag meeting later in the day.
