BSF kills 2 Bangladeshis in Jessore

Indian Border Security Force gunned down two Bangladeshi cattle traders and injured three others along Doulatpur border in Benapole of Jessore early today.

The deceased were identified as Anisur Rahman Aku, 30, son of Azizul Islam; and Santo Islam, 42, son of Abdul Hanif, reports our Benapole correspondent.

All the dead and injured victims are from Putkhali village under Benapole Port Police Station.

Lt Col Md Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion-26, said BSF troops of Ghonermath camp opened fire when a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders were returning home from India along with cattle around 5:00am, leaving five of them injured.

The other cattle traders managed to bring their injured fellows to their respective homes from where they were sent to the local upazila health complex.

But Aku and Santo succumbed to their injuries on way to the health complex, the BGB official said.

The injured are Saiful Islam 30, Altaf Hossain, 32, and Sobuj Hossain, 45.
