BSF kills 1 on Lalmonirhat border

Indian Border Security Force gunned down a cattle trader on Lohakuchi border in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat early today.

Deceased Jambu Miah, 35, was son of Sohrab Hossain at Dulali village of Bhelabari union in the upazila, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent.

Jambu and four other cattle traders went to India crossing Chamta Baburhat border in Cooch Behar district of Paschimbanga to bring cattle around 4:30am, Border Guard Bangladesh sources said.

A patrol team of BSF of Chamta Baburhat camp opened fire on them when Jambu along with his fellows were returning with cattle.

Jambu sustained bullet injuries and died on the no-man’s land, the sources said.

Informed by locals, police recovered the body.

Confirming the incident, Lt Col Ahmed Bajlur Rahman Hayati, commanding officer of Lalmonirhat BGB battalion-15, said a letter was sent to the Indian troops protesting the killing.
