A Dhaka court today sent to jail KM Zahirul Islam Palash, the prime accused of killing wife of BRTA deputy director and college teacher Krishna Kaberi Biswas.

Later in the day, detectives sought a 10-day remand for quizzing Zahirul in connection with the murder.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ataul Haque rejected his bail after he surrendered before the court and fixed October 11 for hearing the remand prayer.

Krishna Kaberi Biswas, 36, wife of BRTA deputy director Sitangshu Shekhar Bishwas and a former college teacher of the city’s Mission International College, was killed around 8:00pm on March 30 at their Mohammadpur flat.

Krishna’s husband Sitangshu, their 14-year-old daughter Srabani Biswas Sruti and eight-year-old daughter Arti Biswas, were also injured in the attack.

In the today’s remand prayer, Detective Branch of police Inspector Delwar and also the investigation officer of the case, said Zahirul needs to be remanded to find out the vital clues about the killing.

Following the incident, Sitangshu’s brother Sudhangshu Shekhar Biswas filed the murder case with Mohammadpur Police Station accusing KM Zahirul Islam Palash as the lone accused.

According to the case statement, it was alleged that on the night of March 30, the killer entered the flat of Sitangshu to greet him on his belated birthday.

Then Jahirul hit his head with a hammer after drugging him with contaminated juice.

As Krishna wanted to save her husband, the killer hacked her with a kitchen sickle and later set her on fire. She died the following day.
