BGB-BSF Meet Ends

Border guards agree to show highest restraint

Officials of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) agreed to show highest restraint in special situations and solve border related problems through discussion. 

They also agreed to maintain peaceful co-existence on the border and resist trans-border crimes.

The discussion was held at a four-day-long regional commander level border coordination conference between BGB and BSF that concluded at Anondadhara Dak Bungalow of Kazi Tea Estate in Tentulia of Panchagarh on Wednesday through signing of Joint Record of Discussion (JRD). 

Brigadier General Kazi Toufiqul Islam, regional commander of Jessore BGB, and IG of North Bengal frontier of BSF Dr Rajesh Mishra jointly signed the JRD.

They also discussed the present border situation including killing across the border, illegal intrusion, detention and smuggling of firearms, illegal drug and cattle.

Development activities within 150 metres of international border line and joint surveillance strategies were also discussed in the conference.

The conference began at Bhinna Jagat, an amusement park in Rangpur Sadar upazila on Sunday.
