BGB new chief Shafeenul takes charge

The newly appointed director general (DG) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) took over charge today.

Major General Shafeenul Islam took over the charge from acting BGB DG Brigadier General Md Anisur Rahman at the BGB’s Philkhana headquarters in Dhaka this morning, said a BGB press release signed by Muhammad Mohsin Reza, public relations officer of BGB.

Prior to joining the post, he was Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board since 14 February 2016.

Maj Gen Shafeenul was accorded warm reception by BGB’s high officials after he arrived at the Philkhana headquarters in the morning.

The government appointed Maj Gen Shafeenul Islam as the new DG of BGB on March 20, 12 days after Maj Gen Abul Hossain had been withdrawn from the post.

Maj Gen Abul Hossain was attached to the Armed Forces Division on March 7.
