Bogra interns withdraw strike

Interns of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) called off their strike yesterday on assurance of the authorities that their demands would be met within seven days.

Some interns beat up a patient's son Abdur Rouf, 35, on Sunday and then called the strike.

They demanded punishment of those who attacked them, security of doctors, 24-hour deployment of two Ansars in each department, check number of visitors and deployment of police in the hospital.

The interns will call a strike again on February 27 if their demands remained unmet, said Kutubuddin, spokesman of the interns.
