Bodies of two missing men found in Padma

The bodies of two people, who had gone missing after a sand-laden trawler capsized in the Padma River in Shibalaya upazila on Sunday, were recovered yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Kuddus Pramanik, 55, of Char Tarapur village under Pabna Sadar upazila, and Rahiz Uddin, 50, son of Moslem Uddin of Tarapur village in the same upazila.

Mahmud Alam, station officer of Manikganj Fire Station, said the rescue team of Bangladesh navy and fire fighters recovered the floating body of Kuddus from the river near Paturia ghat in the morning, while the body of Rahiz was recovered from the spot in the afternoon.

Earlier, the sand-laden trawler capsized as it hit the landing ghat during a nor' wester on Sunday evening.

Six workers, except Kuddus and Rahiz, managed to swim ashore.

The bodies were handed over to their families, Mahmud Alam said.
