Bodies of 2 including Indian citizen recovered from Sylhet river

Two bodies, including one of an Indian citizen, were found floating in Piyain river of Jaflong in Sylhet’s Gowainghat area early today.

One of the deceased was identified as Stein Lamin of India’s Meghalaya state, who was missing after a boat capsized in Indian part of the river on Friday, said Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gowainghat Police Station.

Other victim Rajib Miah, 22, of Kishoreganj is a stone worker, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting the OC.

On Friday, Rajib went missing when a boat sank in the river.

“We are communicating with the senior officials and concern authorities to return the body of the Indian citizen”.
