Allegations made by BNP regarding Narayanganj City Corporation elections are absurd and fabricated, said general secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader today.

He said this election proved that election Commission is capable of holding fair and free elections, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

Obaidul Quader was speaking to journalists today after placing wreath at the grave of late Awami League leader Abdur Razzak at Banani graveyard in Dhaka on the occasion of his death anniversary.

Awami League’s candidate Selina Hayat Ivy was re-elected to the mayor office by a landslide win yesterday. BNP, though was happy with the election, alleged there was a “subtle rigging”.

Today, the party demanded judicial probe to check whether there was any rigging in vote counting.

“It was a victory of Selina Hayat Ivy’s popularity. The election that took place in Narayanganj was a model election. We want to hold the coming elections in the same line”, he added.

Obaidul Quader also said the victory was the victory of Sheikh Hasina’s progress and achievement.
