BNP today has announced fresh programmes including human chain and sit-in across the country demanding release of its Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who was jailed for five years in a graft case.

The party will form human chains across the country on March 6 and will hold sit-in on March 8.

“We hope the government won’t obstruct us in holding the peaceful programme”, BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed told reporters at a press briefing at its Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.

Khaleda was convicted in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8 by a special court in Dhaka. She landed in jail after she was sentenced to five years' imprisonment in the case.

Soon after her conviction, BNP announced countrywide demonstrations on February 9 and 10. Later, it staged protests from February 12 to 14.
