Bipasha finally gets a family of her own

Bipasha Akter, who was found abandoned by law enforcers from a village in Sunamganj just at the age of 11, is finally going to have a family of her own as she is getting married today.

Police rescued Bipasha from a village in Derai upazila back in 2011 and later sent to Rainagar Government Safe Home, a place that she has been calling home for the last seven years, according to the safe home.

Bipasha’s bridegroom Abdul Latif, 27, is also from Rainagar village in Sylhet city and is a painter by profession.

Latif said he and his mother are very happy as Bipasha is going to be a new member in their family.

Bipasha, who turned 18 this year, said “I am getting a new life, a new family and a new address. Pray for us!” Bipasha said with shy voice. She also called upon everyone to pray for them.

Nibash Ranjan Das, deputy director of Sylhet district social service department, said, “When Bipasha was found she couldn't recall the names of her family members and even till this day she couldn't find them”.

“There is a plan to save funds from receiving gifts on the marriage ceremony for future of Bipasha's family,” he added.

Prominent people including Sylhet’s deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, metropolitan police commissioner and other government and non-government officials attended the marriage ceremony. 

“My son is often out of the house for work. Now I'm happy to have a son's wife. I will love her as a daughter, not my son's wife,” said Latif's mother Mosammat Rabeya Begum.
