Cleanup carnival at Patenga beach

A cleaning drive was carried out at Patenga sea beach of Chittagong today as part of the international Beach Cleanup Carnival 2017.

A total of 13 Asian countries including Bangladesh joined the initiative with the goal to create awareness about the conservation of marine environment, according to a press release from Blue Green Foundation, Bangladesh, a non-profitable organisation.

National Museum of Marine Science and Technology, Taiwan and Asia Marine Educators Association are co-organisers of the international event.

As part of it, Bangladesh Marine Academy in association with Blue Green Foundation organised the event in Chittagong.

The programme began simultaneously at 11:30pm in all the participating countries through Skype connectivity. Some 150 Bangladesh Marine Academy volunteers took part in the cleaning drive at Patenga beach.
