BCL man held for beating cop

An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was arrested on charge of beating up a policeman in Benapole of Jessore yesterday.

The arrestee is Towhidur Rahman.

Injured Asaduzzaman Asad, 45, constable of Benapole police immigration office, was admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital.

When Asad was returning from his office, Towhidur and his brother Mofizur Rahman, vice president of Sharsha upazila unit of the party, beat him following an altercation over crossing a road in the area.

On information, the law enforcers rushed to the spot and arrested Towhidur, said Jahirul Islam, sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station.
