Barguna SMC chief removed

The chairman of the school managing committee of Khakuani High School in Amtali upazila of Barguna was removed from his post for attacking the headmaster of the school.

Chairman Abdus Sobhan Liton attacked Headmaster SM Mohiuddin over selection of an assistant teacher and an office assistant on December 2.

Inspector of Schools of Barisal Education Board Abul Bashar Talukder issued an order in this regard on December 14. The board also removed Liton from the position of donour, school sources said.

Liton is also organising secretary of Amtali upazila unit Jubo League.

The headmaster and the chairman differed in selection of candidates for appointment of as assistant teacher and an office assistant.

On December 2, Liton and his men, including his brother Santu Hawlader and brother-in-law Shimon Sharif, went to the headmaster's office to discuss the issue.

At one stage, Liton became very angry and he, along with Santu and Shimon, attacked Mohiuddin with sharp weapons. They later confined Mohiuddin to his room and allegedly looted Tk 86,000 by breaking a drawer of the headmaster's desk and took Tk 7,000 from his pockets.

Mohiuddin filed a case with Amtali Police Station in this regard the same day. 

Police arrested Liton on the same day and sent him to jail.

Inspector of Schools Abul Bashar said they removed the chairman from his post as the allegation against him was found to be true.
