Plane crash victim Shahreen now at DMCH, ‘condition stable’

Shahreen Ahmed, one of the 10 Bangladeshi survivors of US-Bangla plane crash who returned Dhaka this afternoon, is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Her condition is stated to be stable, according to doctors of the DMCH.

She was first taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Burn and Plastic Surgery in DMCH after he was returned from Kathmandu this afternoon.

Later, she has been brought to VIP cabin-2 of the burn unit from the ICU tonight.

A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying Shahreen, 30, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 3:40pm, Tasmin Akhter, manager (Public Relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, told The Daily Star.

Dr Samanta Lal Sen, coordinator of DMCH's Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit, told reporters that she has been suffering five percent burns.

They also found a fracture in one of her legs, the doctor said adding, “Her physical condition is now stable.”

She will have to stay in the cabin in two or three weeks, added Dr Sen.

Shahreen is talking to others and taking foods normally, doctors said.   

Lt Col Sarfaraz Ahmed, brother of Shahreen, told The Daily Star that they have brought her back from Nepal on their own initiative.     

Shahreen is daughter of Mostak Ahmed and Ferdous Mostak of Baridhara DOHS area in the capital.

The 78-seater Bombardier Dash 8 boarding 71 people crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal on March 12, leaving 51 people dead and injured others.

At least 28 Bangladeshi nationals were among the dead.

Another injured Rezwanul flown to Singapore

Another survivor of the plane crash has been flown out of Kathmandu and taken to Singapore for better treatment.

Md Rezwanul Haque, assistant registrar of Rangpur Medical College Hospital, was flown to Singapore last night, Rajkumer Chhetri, general manager at Tribhuvan International Airport, told The Daily Star.

His wife, who was also on the plane, died in the crash.

3 other plane crash victims to be brought to Dhaka soon

According to UNB, three other injured passengers of the crashed US-Bangla Airlines flight will be brought to Bangladesh from Kathmandu soon.

Mehedi Hasan, Saiyada Kamrunnahar Shwarna and Almun Nahar Annie, will be brought to Bangladesh by their relatives, according to External Publicity Wing of Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

Besides, two other injured--Eakub Ali and Emrana Kabir Hashi -- will be taken to India soon, it said.

In this regard, No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have already been issued for them, it added.
