Teletalk to distribute free SIMs among 20 lakh women

State owned mobile operator Teletalk will distribute free SIMs among 20 lakh women by the next three months for ensuring their easy access to internet and improving their living standard.

Telecommunication State Minister Tarana Halim today announced the scheme of free distribution of Teletalk's newly introduced package "Aparajiata" at a function held in the Telecom division in Dhaka this noon.

Under the initiative each woman can collect two Aparajita SIMs from Teletalk customer care centre and retailers completing biometric verification process and proper documentation, Tarana said.

An Aparajita user, as start up bonus, will get Tk 10 preloaded balance which will remain valid for next three months and 1 GB data and 10-minute on-net and 5-minitue off-net call free for seven days from the activation of the connection, informed a Teletalk official. 

SIMs will be available on a first come, first serve basis, the officer said.

Besides, the user could enjoy 1 GB data at Tk 8 while 2 GB data at Tk 14 for a week and it will continue for the next three months from the activation of the SIM and user can avail it as much as she wants, they added.

The exiting woman user can migrate to Aparajita scheme, said Teletalk managing director Kazi Md Golam Quddus.

They are expecting that the especial offer will help to empower women of the country and at the same time they can add a huge number of customers under their network.
