Students of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) demonstrated at campus today protesting expulsion of two fellow students.

They staged a sit-in at the main gate of the university this morning against yesterday’s decision to expel the two students, and demanded that their punishment be commuted.

The two expelled students are Hamidur Rahman Rangan and Ashiq Ahmed Himel from CEE department. They were found to have abused some fresher students.

Witnesses said a group of 50-60 students of the CEE department gathered in front of the university main gate around 9:30am and started their sit-programme after locking it, our local correspondent reports.

The Sust at a meeting of the syndicate also handed down different forms of punishments to 19 other students for their involvement in the same incident.
