3 ‘JMB militants' held in N’ganj

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have detained three suspected militants of "Sarwar-Tamim group of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB)" in Fatullah of Narayanganj last night.

The detainees were identified as Waliullah Chishti alias Abu Omar, 27, of Muradnagar in Comilla; Al Amin Sheikh Rajib, 25, of Mollarhat in Bagerhat; and Kamrul Hasan Hridoy, 35, of Debidwar in Comilla, Rab told journalists. 

The detainees have confessed that they were operatives of the Sarwar-Tamim group of the banned militant outfit, Camp Commander Lt Col Kamrul Hasan briefed reporters at Rab-11 headquarters in Adamjee area this noon, our Narayanganj correspondent reports.

On information about a secret meeting of the militants, a Rab-11 team conducted a drive in Charboyragadi area of Fatullah from 5:00pm to 11:00pm last night. Three JMB militants were held in the drive while others managed to flee, the Rab official said.

During the drive, the team also seized one foreign made pistol, one foreign made revolver, five rounds of bullets, two knives, explosives and Jihadi books and leaflets, he also said.
