PSC opens helpline for 39th BCS applicants

Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) today launched a helpline for the applicants of 39th special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination, that will recruit only doctors.

PSC made the announcement in a release today, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

The helpline numbers, provided by government-run mobile operator Teletalk, are:

01555555149, 01555555150, 01555555151, and 01555555152.

Candidates can call any of these numbers if they face problems during application for the 39th BCS.

The application process for the 39th BCS began on April 10 from 10:00am. The last date of application is April 30 till 6:00pm. Applicants aged between 21-32 years can apply for the 39th special BCS. The applications have to be made online, with an examination fee of Tk 700 for general candidates and Tk 100 for applicants who are from indigenous, special needs, and third gender groups, the Bangla daily reports.

A total of 4,542 assistant surgeons and 250 assistant dental surgeons will be recruited among around 5,000 doctors in the 39th BCS, health ministry sources said adding that the number may increase.

The examination will consist of a written test of 200 marks with multiple choice questions (MCQs) and a viva voce of 100 marks. A 100-mark written test on medical science or dental science will be held.

Every correct MCQ answered will add one mark while every incorrect answer will penalise 0.50 marks. PSC will decide the passing mark in the written test, which will be held only in Dhaka. The passing mark for viva voce is 50.
