Primary terminal exams begin

Primary and Ebtedai terminal examinations for class-V students began across the country today.

Today, the students have appeared for English examination that started at 11:00am and will continue till 1:30pm.

According to the Directorate of Primary and Mass Education, a total of 30,96,075 students are sitting for this year’s Primary School Certificate (PSC) and its madrasa equivalent Ebtedayee terminal examinations.

Among them, 28,04,509 examinees -- 12,99,985 male and 15,04,524 female -- are sitting for PSC examinations.

On the other hand, 2,91,566 students are appearing for Ebtedayee examinations this year. Of them, 1,53,152 are male and 1,38,414 female.

The examinations are taking place at over 7,200 centres across the country and 12 centres abroad.

The total number of this year's examinees are 1,34,213 less than those of the previous year. Last year, 32,30,288 students appeared in the examinations.

The examinations will end on November 26.
