The High Court will deliver its verdict on Sunday on the rule issued asking the government whether Tangail’s Awami League lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana will be granted bail in freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed murder case.

The HC bench Justice Borhanuddin and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal today fixed the date for delivering the judgment after concluding hearing on the rule.

The bullet-hit body of freedom fighter Faruk, also a district AL leader of Tangail, was found on January 18, 2013. Later, a murder case was filed in connection with the incident.

Following a bail petition filed by Amanur, now in jail, the HC on April 13 this year granted ad-interim bail to Amanur and also issued a rule asking the government to explain why he should not be granted regular bail in this case.

Later, the government moved a petition before the Appellate Division of the SC for staying the HC order.

Following the government petition, the apex court on May 8 stayed the HC order of bail.

The SC on October 19 extended its earlier directive that stayed the HC order of bail and also asked the HC to hear and dispose of the rule, which was issued over granting bail to Amanur, in four weeks.

Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud, Advocate Nurul Islam Sujan and Advocate Rusho Mustafa appeared for Amanur, while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam opposed the bail petition.
