The High Court refuses to give bail to Ariful Islam Sohel, owner of Ghoroa Hotel and Restaurant at Motijheel in Dhaka, in a case filed for the killing of his 16-year-old staff Riad.

The bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil also dropped the petition filed by Ariful seeking bail in the case from the hearing list, Deputy Attorney General Md Bashirullah told The Daily Star.

Bashirullah also said the Ghoroa Hotel owner cannot get released from jail following the HC order.

Citing from the case statement, Ariful tortured Riad, accusing him (Riad) of stealing a mobile phone and Tk 1,500 and shot the boy to death with a revolver at his under-construction building in Swamibagh on October 28, 2015.

Riad’s brother Ripan filed the murder case with Wari Police Station against Ariful and others on the same day, he said, adding that the trial court has already framed charges against Ariful and others.

Advocate Mizanur Rahman appeared for Ariful.
