Digital Security Act: Nothing to be worried
Obaidul urges media people
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today called upon the media people not to be worried of the proposed Digital Security Act, 2018.
"The act is at the vetting stage at the law ministry. It will be sent again to the cabinet for approval. We will hold talks with all stakeholders before its finalisation. So nothing to be worried," Quader said.
The minister came up with the comment while talking to a view exchange meeting in Dhaka this afternoon.
Quader, also general secretary of ruling Awami League, held the meeting with the representatives of different print and electronic media at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) to boost his government's relation with the mass media.
Earlier on January 29, the cabinet approved the draft of the Digital Security Act, 2018 incorporating a provision of 14 years in prison for the offences under the law.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and State Minister Tarana Halim were also present at the meeting.
