BCL Sylhet unit dissolved

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has dissolved its Sylhet district unit after a murder case was filed against the unit's general secretary yesterday.

The decision was made last night, according to a notice published on BCL website, jointly signed by BCL central committee president Saifur Rahman Sohag and general secretary SM Jakir Hossain.

Earlier on October 16, Omar Ali Miyad, a student of a private university in Sylhet, was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals over previous enmity at Tilagarh area of Sylhet city.

Omar, a student of Law department at Leading University, was an activist of a faction of BCL Sylhet district unit.

Omar's father Akul Miah filed a murder case yesterday evening accusing Rayhan Chowdhury, general secretary of BCL Sylhet district unit, and the unit's nine activists.
