Bagerhat boat capsize death toll now 14

Death toll in boat capsize in the Panguchi river rose to 14 with the recovery of nine more bodies yesterday.

Bodies of five men, two women and two children were recovered yesterday while bodies of five women were recovered on Tuesday and Wednesday from the river.

A motorised ferry boat capsized on Tuesday morning while it was crossing the river Panguchi in Morelganj upazila with over one hundred passengers.

The bodies were handed over to the relatives, said Md Rashedul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Morelganj Police Station, adding that they were recovered from different areas of the Panguchi. 

Two missing people were admitted to the hospital, the OC said. Six more people  are still missing while the rescuers continued their search.
