A Brahmanbaria court today granted a one-day remand for an Awami League leader arrested over the synchronised attack on Hindus in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on October 30.

The court of Senior Chief Judicial Magistrate, Shoraf Uddin, gave the remand order after police produced the AL leader with a 5-day remand prayer, our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting Md Mhabubur Rahman, a court inspector in the district.

On December 27, 2016, police arrested Abdul Ahad, former joint secretary of upazila and former chairman of Sadar union, of AL over the attack on the Hindus in the upazila.

Unruly mobs and zealots vandalised many Hindu houses and temples in five villages of the upazila over a Facebook post on October 30.

Law enforcers have so far arrested 103 people in six cases filed by police in connection with the attack.
