Appellate Division Registrar Md Zakir Hossain has been made the acting registrar general of the Supreme Court.

Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah appointed him today, two days after the SC brought major changes in its administration by transferring 10 key officials including Registrar General Syed Aminul Islam.

Zakir Hossain’s appointment as acting registrar general of the SC will come into effect on Sunday, according to a notification issued by the SC yesterday.

The SC is expected to give appointments soon to other nine posts of the SC administration of which officials were transferred recently.

The SC on October 15, two days after Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha flew to Australia, transferred its 10 key officials including its Registrar General Syed Aminul Islam.

The same day, the apex court also transferred 15 other judicial officers, ranging from the rank of the joint district judge to district judge.

The law ministry on that day issued three separate notifications to this effect, saying the transfer orders have been made in public interest.
