Miscreants set fire to a house of Hindu community at Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbaria this evening, sending ripples of fear through the community there.

Unidentified people set fire to a pile of straw near the house of Anjan Kumar Dey, an upazila vice chairman and also the president of Nasirnagar upazila unit Jubo League, in Duttapara area around 7:15pm, said Mahiuddin, sub-inspector of Nasirnagar Police Station.

The fire also spread to the tin-shed house, an eyewitness told The Daily Star.

No casualty was reported from the fire.

Today’s attack took place barely a day after five Hindu homes were torched in Brahmanbaria's Nasirnagar which followed by the synchronised attack on the community on October 30, spreading panic among the already frightened minority community.

The local administration in a survey found at least 58 families were affected and 17 temples were either damaged or looted when religious zealots went berserk for around two hours in at least eight Hindu-dominated areas on Sunday.

The office of the Nasirnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer conducted the survey and submitted its findings to the deputy commissioner of Brahmanbaria on Wednesday.
