Official results: AL-backed lawyers win bar council polls

Ruling Awami League-backed panel won back the driving seat of the Bangladesh Bar Council after three years, official election results said today.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, chairman of the bar council, the licensing and regulatory body of lawyers, announced the official result around 8:00am.

Sammilito Ainjibi Samannoy Parishad Parishad, the AL-backed lawyers' panel, bagged 11 out of total 14 executive member posts, while the Pro-BNP lawyers’ panel won the remaining three posts.

Official results were declared at the bar council auditorium this morning – a week after the polls were held throughout the country on August 26.

This year's winning candidates of the Ainjibi Parishad are: M Amir-Ul Islam, Abdul Baset Majumder, Abdul Matin Khasru, SM Rezaul Karim, ZI Khan Panna, Nazubullah Hiru, HR Zahid Anwar, Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul, Parvez Alom Khan, Md Yahia and Md Rezaul Karim Mantu.

Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel winning candidates are BNP leader and current vice chairman of Bar Council Khandker Mahbub Hossain, AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Qaimul Hoque.

According to unofficial results on August 27, Ainjibi Parishad had won 10 seats while Ainjibi Oikya Panel four.
