Airtel offers free calls to Nepal

Mobile operator Airtel has given its customers the scope to place free calls to earthquake-stricken Nepal for the next 48 hours starting from today.

The opportunity has been activated from 12am today and will continue until Wednesday midnight, a press release by Airtel Bangladesh Limited said.

“We are deeply saddened by the deadliest ever earthquake in Nepal,” PD Sharma, managing director and CEO of the company, said. “Our free call to Nepal initiative from Bangladesh is a small step to help in the time of this calamity.”

Until now, the death toll in the deadly 7.8 earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday mounted over 3,200 with many more missing and efforts pursuing for search and rescue.
