Ain O Salish Kendra gets new executive director

Sheepa Hafiza, a renowned human rights activist, has been appointed as the executive director of Ain O Salish Kendra, a rights organisation

She will join the post of the organisation on April 1, says a press release.

Sheepa is a seasoned executive widely recognised for her expertise in areas including policy advocacy for extreme poverty reduction, programme development, organisational change management, capacity strengthening; rights advocate for gender justice, migrant labour rights and ending child marriage, the press release said.

She has received several awards including the Communication for Sustainable Social Change Award from the University of Massachusetts, USA, to honour her work on migrant’s labour rights, and the Best Practice Award for Gender Norm Change.

Her international publications are on gender justice, policy advocacy for extreme poverty reduction, climate resilience and empowering livelihoods for women.

ASK, a national legal aid and human rights organisation, provides legal and social support to the disempowered, particularly women, children and workers. Since its inception in 1986, the organisation is working to create a society based on equality, social and gender justice and rule of law.
